Long-Overdue Updates!

Sorry it has been so long since an update! A lot of things have been happening, including having a friend from Costa Rica stay with us for two weeks and not to mention a wedding! Yup- Jacob and I made it official last month so the past month or so has been kind of a whirlwind adventure.

And if that wasn’t enough, I just finished my third week as an offcial second grade teacher! We’ve been a little busy, to say the least 🙂

Oh yeah- and this little guy came into our lives as well- meet Major Thomas Gonzalez, my nephew!

So- what have we been doing on the house? Well- Randy finished the steps leading up to our first flat space on our property! It is amazing how exciting flat space can be when you have none. He has also almost finished building us a beautiful fence! Soon the boys will have full access to the flat space when we aren’t home.

Jacob poured the middle footers for the foundation underneath our master bed/bath area.

Jacob finished THE WALL! No more bricks to carry- allll done! Well, the wall part at least! Which means another flat spot on the other side of our house!

I (with the help of German, our Costa Rican amigo) demo’d the back porch/previous laundry area to make room for the new laundry room/closet!

And the biggest thing of all- we got our back foundation wall poured! Yesterday a big cement truck and pumper came and we got it all filled. Last weekened my dad and I prepped for the pour by putting in forms and rebar and now it is done! All that’s left to finish the foundation on the back area is to put in a little cripple wall to connect the cement foundation to the house itself. We coouldn’t be more excited!

We had some extra concrete after the foundation, so along with getting the foundation poured we were able to pour the rest of a little dog run Jacob had started a couple months back. AND we poured the floor of our future cabinets that will be located underneath our bedroom/bath suite! Yesterday was an extremely productive day.

What’s next- today my dad is coming over and we are going to start building the subfloor of our new laundry/closet area. Once that’s complete, we can start framing out the walls next weekend!

As of right now, it is looking like we are 6 weeks out from having this back room done- hopefully!
