Last night Jacob and I spent our very first night in our new bedroom! How could we have been able to do that? Simply put, we kicked butt this weekend. See, there were two things we needed to have finished before we could even think of sleeping in that room. The first was the flooring, and the second was the trim on our bedroom window so my dad wouldn’t have to fight a bed while trying to get that done later on. We did them both (with the wonderful help of my dad!!).
On Saturday we got started right away with laying down our beautiful hardwood flooring (now that the painting and such was all done, we could finally reach this step!).
On Saturday we were able to get a little over halfway done with the flooring- and that was only working a half day because we went to Kent Lake with the boys in the afternoon! And let me tell you- doing the flooring is probably the most fun we’ve had working on our house! It is pretty easy once you establish a straight line, and the results are stunning! Plus, it’s quite fun to slam the mallet onto the nail gun 🙂
But on Sunday we meant business. My dad helped us a bit with some of the tricky/precise cuts for the flooring, but then got started on the window trim for the bathroom shower window (needed to be done before the tile guy comes in). He was also able to do the trim for the big window in our bedroom. Remember, this window trim comes from reclaimed wood- so pretty!
We finished all that work up on Sunday around 1pm. After a tasty lunch, Jacob and I then headed down to Berkeley to pick up our new, beautiful, king-sized, eco-friendly memory foam mattress. After sharing a double bed that I’ve had since my freshman year of college, last night’s sleep was a miracle. We are SO happy that we were able to get moved in this weekend, and I owe a HUGE thanks to my dad for making it possible. Thank you dad!
