Destruction Zone

One of the many things that drew Jacob and I to our house was the multitude of little decks all over the place. One of the decks is already gone- we replaced it with our laundry room. And now a second one is gone- but this one only temporarily. The coolest deck that came with our house by far is the one right off of our office. Unfortunately, it was not built well, correctly, or safely. So in order to avoid more water damage this coming winter, we decided to take some action.

no more overhang! I had to stop after this point because the beam was too heavy for me to move off the railing (which was the only thing left to demo)

By winter time, Jacob and I will have wrapped the remnants of our deck in plastic to keep it safe from the rain that will (hopefully) come! We are hoping to get it up and running again next spring/summer, but even if we don’t this year that deck will eventually rise again!

And speaking of destruction of decks… we had to destroy yet another one the other day in order for the cement truck (for the retaining wall holes) to fit onto our driveway. The destruction continues:

Eventually the decks will be replaced, but for now we’ve got to leave them as-is because there are a lot more pressing matters to attend to!
